I admire all types of artists, but I highly admire artists in live venues. I’m the type of person that can give a speech in front of a room full of people, but I talk as if I’ve been guzzling Venti espresso drinks and my hands shake like an addict jonseing for a fix. I can’t say I like to be in front of a roomful of people, but over the years, I’ve gotten better at it.
So, if you’re a performer in front of a roomful of people, what’s the worst that could happen? You could choke and screw up. Or some idiot could leave his cell phone on. Well, that’s exactly what happened to violinist Lukas Kmit. He was playing some very pretty music when suddenly, the sweet sound of a Nokia ringtone fills the air. Instead of letting it choke him, he went with it and played the Nokia ringtone.
Sometimes things don’t go right when you’re writing. You can choke, have a bad day. Maybe your characters aren’t cooperating. Maybe you feel like you need to scrap the whole thing and start over. Instead of getting upset, maybe you should just try going with the flow. If Lukas Kmit had pitched a fit, you would never have heard his name. Instead, he made the best of a bad situation, and is now YouTube famous. There are worse things.
I have the link to the YouTube video below. It’s an entertaining two minutes.
