In my daily viewing of the CBS Morning Show with Charlie Rose and Erica Hill I was pleasantly surprised by a company I saw there. Two men in their final year at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School came up with a simple and what seems to be an effective way to sell something we all or most of us need. They addressed a problem and set forth on solving it. They could not understand why eyeglasses were so expensive so they investigated further into the world of eyeglass manufacturing and production. What they learned was that most glasses in the US are distributed and sold through one company, thus the price was a “little” inflated to say the least.
The two men created Warby Parker, a B corporation, which is a business that is held to higher standard. With an idea, a business plan and dare I say it a conscience they not only sell prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses, prescription optional, but then donate a pair of glasses to a person in need in the developing world.
So if you have some FSA dollars you want to spend check them out.
