The folks that have brought us the super procreating Duggar family and Toddlers and Tiaras are not going to rest on their success. No, dare I say they have kicked open the door of the American viewers consciousness with this groundbreaking piece of television magic.
Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo, will again grace the fans of Toddlers and Tiaras with a show of her own this summer. Here comes Honey Boo Boo! It starts August 8th and will follow the famous beauty queen and her family as they live, laugh and love.
Just when you thought that things were bad enough, it just got a little worse. This is likely going to be a hit, for all the wrong reasons. The one quote that comes to mind and still makes me cringe is, “A dollar make me holler, honey boo boo.” While I did not grow up in the south, I doubt that this is the norm, where little girls offer a “holler” for a dollar. After running through my checklist to see if there is a need to call Child Protective Services, I’ll continue.
Although there is clearly human concern for what may become of this child, there is also hypocrisy. I will watch, because like every other person, I slow down to look at car wreck on the freeway. I am not proud of this human flaw, but there is clearly entertainment value in watching others do things that I would never consider.
So if this brand of “reality” television is your cup of tea; this summer your cup over- floweth.
